There is a campaign among the food industry these days to create low and non-fat version
of our foods. Why has it not worked then? Because removing the fat from the foods doesn’t
make it non-fattening. Carbohydrates can make you fat. Also many
low and non-fat foods boost the sugars are put into our foods to make up for the loss
of flavour. Hence we feel like eating a lot of carbohydrates
(too much in fact) and in the process eat too many calories – in the form of refined
carbohydrates like sugar. So here’s the thing eating the real thing
but in moderation rather than bingeing on ‘lite’ products with sugar and salt will
really cause you to put on weight. Describe your current diet in your diary-
