How Many Meals Per Day SHOULD People OVER 40 Eat [Surprising Answer]

Hey everybody, Shaun Hadsall
here with Get Lean After 40. Today, I have a
question for you, and I want you to post your
answer in the comments below, and that is how many meals
should you, personally, eat on a daily, ongoing, basis to
maximize your fat earning potential, to fight diseases,
and to extend your lifespan? That is the question I’m going
to answer inside today’s video. So, post below
how many meals you think you should eat
every day, and then I think, the answer
I’m going to give you is going to surprise you. So, when you take all the
scientific research studies over the last 20 years, The
Peer Review published studies, and you put them side
by side, research shows that meal frequency
does not improve weight loss, or increase your metabolic rate. And in fact, you could
eat one meal a day. This is a very popular
trend right now, it’s called OMAD,
one meal a day. And as long as you’re
getting the macronutrients that your body needs,
the proteins, the carbs, and the fats, and at
least five days per week you’re burning off more
than you’re taking in, so you’re keeping your
body in a slight calorie deficit about five days per
week, that is all you need. Now, I personally think
this would be a terrible way to do things. I mean, one meal a day
going to be stuffed. I feel like I’m going to be
eating for an hour straight to meet my macronutrients. But, I’ve seen ripped
doctors that are in their 40s using this OMAD plan,
and it is working. Now, let’s go to
the opposite end, and I’ll share a real-life
example of my story. Way back in 1998, when I placed
first runner-up grand champion in the world’s largest body
transformation contest, by Bill Phillips, there was over 220,000
contestants, 23,000 finishers, and in 12 weeks, I
lost 18 pounds of fat, I gained five pounds
of muscle, and I was first runner-up grand champion. Now, I don’t share
that to brag or boast, just to impress upon you
that there is more than one way to skin a cat. So, here I am at 28 years
old ripped and shredded, and I was eating six to
seven small meals a day. Now, with that being
said, I wasn’t married, so I didn’t have a
marriage to maintain, I wasn’t a grandparent, so
I didn’t have six grandkids like I do now, so I had a lot
more time to dedicate exercise and nutrition. And fast forward to today,
I only eat three meals a day and for the last 10 years in a
row that’s all I’ve ever done is eat about three
larger meals a day, meeting my same
macronutrient requirements, as if I was eating six
or seven meals a day. And then, sometimes, I
add a fourth protein shake or a late night protein
snack before bed. And this is really all you need. Now, I use this in conjunction
with a specific form of intermittent
fasting that’s designed for the current hormonal
condition of people over 40 years old. So, I’ll put a
link to my web page where you’ll learn about my
Over 40 Hormone Reset Diet. It’s a one-day diet protocol
specifically designed to help people over 40
use intermittent fasting to reset their master
fat burning hormones, to boost their metabolism, and
to fight the aging process, and you do not have to
worry about eating five or six small meals per day. However, if it works for
you, then do it right? The best plan is one that you
can stick to and adhere to. I just want to let you know
that it’s not necessary, and research shows that
small frequent meals do not speed up your metabolism, and
do not increase weight loss. And when you put all
the study side by side, all that ultimately
matters is, are you getting what your body needs
in proteins, carbs, and fats, in micronutrients on a
daily, ongoing, Basis? So, hopefully, you
guys up on this video. If you did, do me a favor,

they don’t need to be nibbling on bits of
lettuce every couple of hours to get great results, right? So, thanks for watching. Remember, knowledge is power,
but only when it’s applied, and iron sharpens iron. So, hanging around
like-minded, positive people that support your goals,
and keep going strong.
