Venus Williams-Plant Based Diet Changed My Life +What She Eats In A Day

In 2011 Venus Williams was diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome, an autoimmune disease in which inflammation progressively damages the moisture-producing glands of the body and symptoms range from dry mouth, skin and eyes to a chronic cough, numbness in the arms and legs, extreme fatigue, muscle and joint pains, and thyroid problems. When talking about her illness Venus said ‘I couldn’t raise my arm over my head, the racket felt like concrete. I had no feelings in my hands. They were swollen and itchy I would go to the doctor and start crying. I couldn’t help it. The fatigue is hard to explain unless you have it. Some mornings I feel really sick, like when you don’t get a lot of sleep or you have a flu or cold. I always had some level of tiredness. and the more I tried to push through it, the tougher it got the fatigue can be so heavy that sitting in a chair is a huge effort” There’s said to be no known cure for this autoimmune disease and Venus’ tennis career almost came to a grinding halt. In 2011 she ended the year ranked 102 in the world. However she then drastically changed her diet and began following a vegan diet this is when everything started to change. By 2015 Venus was back up to 7th in the world and in 2017 at the age of 36 she reached the Australian open final. When asked about her plant based diet she said “I fell in love with the concept of fueling your body in the best way possible. Not only does it help me on the court, but I feel like I’m doing the right thing for me. It definitely changed my whole life. It changed the pace that I live at. It changed everything. I always tell people that you have to enjoy what you’re eating. If you’re eating a plant-based diet or a mixture of one, make sure you’re eating something you like. Find a restaurant, recipes, or join a community that way you can learn and enjoy your food. When you’re doing the right things, and you’re eating plants, and you’re eating live foods, it helps you in your life. I think you feel more energized and you feel more positive.” Here’s what Venus typically eats in a day For breakfast its normally a green juice, a protein smoothie, or some fruit. She says she does lot of juicing and wheat grass shots. Sometimes she may treat herself to some granola with almond milk. lunch is typically her biggest meal of the day where she eats lentils, quinoa, and a strawberry smoothie with protein powder or other days she’ll have sweet potatoes, green beans, cabbage, and soba noodles. Her go-to snacks are green juice and kale chips or dates and cashews. When she craves sweets she’ll have what she calls ‘orange creamsicle smoothie, made from almond milk, oranges, banana, vanilla and coconut oil or a pineapple, orange, and strawberry juice. Dinner is typically a large salad. On match days she will eat a large breakfast of fried rice then later on after her pre match warm-up she has sweet potatoes and rice. For energy on court she takes pre-mixed energy drinks made of organic coconut water and pineapple juice. Post-match Venus tends to refuel with lots of water with electrolyte powder and then more sweet potatoes, rice, and barbecue tofu. 1. Tried vegan diet 2 times , 7 months each. Everything good at the beggining but later , after 6 months: bloating, indigestion, stomach pain, GERD, huge animal products cravings… I ate what doctor mc greger recommanded, but…. why doesnt it work

  2. Before I went vegan my yoga practice plateaued on a vegetatrian diet and I mostly used it to get rid of chronic inflamation in smaller joints in the morning(probably the cheese), for that it worked well. After I went vegan I made a lot of progress, I've never been this good at yoga and I'm still seeing daily improvements while I'm pushing 40…

  3. sports men and women are turning to vegan food and with good reason! I couldn't go back to animal products now I feel this good! πŸ™‚

  4. thanks for sharing. its amazing how we can transform when we stick to our natural diets and get rid of these inflammatory animal products.

  5. …didn't like this video…loved it!! πŸ’“πŸ’“πŸ’“ what a great idea to feature this great athlete!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ thank you for sharing her journey and menus! πŸŒŸπŸŒ…πŸ’“πŸŒ

  6. I'm not surprised and I'm glad that she succeeded in turning her health around with a plant based diet. It bothers me that she had to complicate her diet with smoothies with protein powders and coconut oil and wheatgrass etc. l wonder if she would have gotten the the same results by simply eating a WFPB diet. Non-vegans get turned off or scared off when they think one has to make all these vegan concoctions in order to be a successful vegan.

  7. Wow! This is a great video that shows the power of plants to cure illness. A plant base diet has changed my life also! Thanks for the video!

  8. I'm a little sad that she never directly contributed her better health to the plant based diet. Is she afraid to advertise it?

  9. there is a big difference between a vegan and a raw vegan. I have been a raw vegan for over 26 years. never ever eat cooked foods or flesh nor it's byproducts. In my research I have found that it is What causes the problems. try it , you will not experience those discomforts and cravings. educate yourself on vegetable nutrition and food combining. you can do it
it works if you work it Peace and blessings

  10. liked it and put it up. Sjogren's is a beast. Shower your body's cells with what they need and not with poisons, watch health come back.

  11. All Auto-Immune can be cured. Detox the liver, eat a plant based diet, drink lemon ginger blast daily and do coffee enemas. There's the regimen!

  12. Bitch eats no sprouts. Industrial Protein shakes and wheat grass shots got nothing on mungo beans, green peas, fenugreek and lentils sprouts.

I havent see anything fermented. #ParadigmShift

  13. Good video! But what I dislike is when you said she changed for a vegan diet, you showed an image of only fruits and vegetables. That sends a misleading message that this is only what vegan eats. Grains, legumes, nuts are vegan too πŸ™‚ I know you know that πŸ™‚ Next time maybe put an image with all vegan group choices.

  14. This is excellent very inspiring my life affected by eczema on my face chest and back I also suffered constipation, stomach problems etc so the these problems and this story is awesome baby with a capital A

  17. I was just diagnosed with SjΓΆgrens and I’m thinking of going Vegan to treat it. They pain is terrible every day. I was omad for a while and ate once a day. Only ate veggies, fish, and fruit during that time. I felt better and my body temp was actually much more controlled.
